A construção da identidade da personagem Lourença na obra Cais da Sagração de Josué Montello

Abstract

The present work presents an analysis about the construction of the identity of the character Lourença belonging to the work Cais da Sagração by Josué Montello, a work that fits in the Maranhense Literature. The choice of this theme to work on was done through readings and reinterpretations of the work in question, throughout the readings it was noticed the submissive behavior of this character in the whole plot in relation to her Husband (Mestre Severino), a boatman. This girl had attitudes and acted in such a way as to draw the reader's attention to her humiliating behaviors, where she felt very good about doing them herself, this was due to the love she felt for her husband and the gratitude she had for him because of him taking her from her father's house, a place where she suffered a lot. The objective of this research is to discover and analyze which factors were part of the construction of the identity of this character and thus unravel what made her become this submissive and solid being capable of sacrificing her happiness to see her husband happy, that is, for what mattered was seeing her husband's sastifage even if it cost her unhappiness. To carry out this research studies of articles, books and theoretical references of fundamental importance were used to make the work more scientific. However, in this analysis will be all possible answers to the questions raised about the topic chosen to be discussed and analyzed.
