A emancipação da figura feminina condicionada aos padrões conservadores do séc. XIX em “Diva” de José de Alencar

Abstract

This research seeks to analyze the work Diva, by José de Alencar, in order to verify the emancipation of the female figure conditioned to conservative standards in the 19th century, in order to understand the female condition at the time according to the profile of the character Emília since , is a woman with ideals far ahead of the standards established by society, in the Alencarian narrative. In addition to the larger objective presented above, the work also developed in other objectives: 1) to outline a panorama of the literary romanticism movement, highlighting fiction within that period; 2) reflect on the female representation in patriarchal society and learn about the stereotypes surrounding the female figure in this period and 3) understand the search for freedom of the female character Emília within the work, as well as addressing some other female profiles of Alencar. The work is of bibliographic nature, and the documentary material used was related to subjects about Romanticism in Brazil and the genre romance, life and works of José de Alencar as well as their profiles of women, the social representation of women in the 19th century, especially his social status in Diva. To this end, Alencar (2012), author of the work under analysis and the writings of authors such as Batista (2013), Flory (2011), Dell Priore (2011), Bosi (2006), Muricy (1998), were used as theoretical support. and Culler (1999), among others who had great importance for the production of this research in view of the availability of references regarding the proposed discussion, as well as social aspects regarding the woman of the 19th century
