This work addresses in detail how children's literature can help in the teacher's work in the classroom, facilitating and helping in the literacy process and later in the student's literacy. Therefore, we will present a brief history of this literature that has long been used over the years in schools not only in Brazil, but in different parts of the world, as well as its aspects and characteristics in general, as well as its benefits. form will help the student to understand and learn throughout their school and post-school journey. We will point out the importance of teaching work in the encouragement and projection of children's literature, for the formation of the student reader, understanding that the encouragement of reading must be worked inside and outside the school.
