Abstract

This work aims to identify and sample the main pathologies that arise in the foundations of civil construction, besides showing the type of soil suitable for each type of foundation. The identification of the pathologies of the foundations during the elaboration of the structural project are not always possible due to the existence of several situations, such as: soil behavior, project analysis, foundation execution, post-completion of foundations and degradation of materials Constituintes.no follows from this work were explained each of these causes, indicating the problems arising and, where possible, exemplifying in order to make understanding easier. The problems present at the foundations level are difficult to be investigated prior to the execution, therefore this stage becomes of fundamental importance for the good functioning and so that they do not affect the basic principles of the durability and safety of the building, harming the Work in general. In the main situations where the pathologies of the foundations were detected, it was evident that there was a lack of control in the execution of insufficient soil surveys, employing inadequate foundations for the existing soil. There is a great need to pay more attention to this important stage of civil construction, because of the serious consequences that can result from the poor execution of this phase. This work aimed to explore the main causes of pathologies of foundations, based on bibliographical research, as well as to show the precautions to be taken in order to avoid them, reducing the final cost of the work and increasing the reliability of this stage
