Contribuições da Patrulha Maria da Penha no enfrentamento à violência doméstica em São Luís do Maranhão

Abstract

In Contemporaneity, as in more remote times, violence against women has always existed. These are the most diverse acts that cause the female gender to be disqualified even as a human being. With regard to assistance policies, it is noted that they really exist, but it is difficult to make a Law as essential and important as the Maria da Penha Law (LMP) really be considered in its essence, if the mechanisms of justice in our country are considered slow, weak and the feeling of impunity on the part of the aggressors is wide open, given that in most cases the aggressors return to the bosom of the home and continue to attack their partners, often being untouchable due to the fear of these victims who they are not sure of compliance with the laws that protect it. Thus, the present study addresses the following issue: Has the Patrulha Maria da Penha (PMP) of the State of Maranhão collaborated effectively in reducing violence against women from São Lúis? Thus, the idea that domestic and family violence against women is a practice that is very present in everyday life and having the conception that the application of the protection laws to these victims gives a dimension of how high the occurrence rates of this phenomenon are. with an interest in seeking knowledge about the Maria da Penha Law (LMP) and the PMP, in which its objective is to analyze the contributions of Patrulha Maria da Penha to the reduction of domestic violence against women in São Luís . It was also intended to present the creation and current structure of the local PMP, as well as its actions to confront domestic violence; also identify the statistical data referring to domestic violence against women in São Luís before the actions of the PMP in the State, in which there is a descriptive study that uses the qualitative method. Their findings show that with the advent of the PMP in Maranhão, it was realized that the rates of violence against women was a phenomenon of great frequency that should be combated with a special focus, as the State could not stand idly by counting the events that made it negative statistics in the public security sector, with numerous consequences for vulnerable women. At the end of this study, it is also highlighted the high relevance it brings, serving as a basis for a better conception of domestic violence practiced against women, which can be complemented so that feasible solutions to the phenomenon of violence can be reached against this public in question that never ends, but that can be reduced with much effort and perspicacity.
