Abstract

This research entitled how "Family and School: The construction of cultural capital" addresses the implications of this cultural construction and its forms of attributions, In addition, It also seeks to understand the relationship between the family and the school institution and stress its role in the individual's journey, In addition, will be questioned the role that the school should play in helping school success, since she acts like an agent that generates inequalities. To do this, we will analyze diverse issues from Pierre Bourdieu's sociological perspective regarding social origins and how they can influence the accumulation of this capital and thus generate social inequalities. Starting from the same point, we will also use the fundamental concepts addressed by the author to understand the importance of such a discussion. Seen, in order to work on the concept of cultural capital, if it is done necessary to understand about Bourdieu's theory of practice, where by means of this, can also conceptualize the theory of habitus and the theory of the field, both of which, are extremely important for the scientific formation of the author's knowledge. Therefore, only after conceptualizing these theories, will it be possible to understand how the accumulation of cultural capital and its transmission through the family environment occurs, bearing in mind that the field and the subject's habitus will influence the result. It is worth noting that we will describe the forms of capital he uses, highlighting the object of our research, which is cultural capital. Although it is an intellectual device that has a great influence on student learning, if used incorrectly it can lead to a purely symbolic dispute, which would generate symbolic violence. Throughout the work, the recurring links between the author's theories will be exposed at all times, allowing us to find the answers necessary to the objectives of this research.
