A representação da mulher afro-brasileira na literatura de Conceição Evaristo: uma análise do Conto Zaita esqueceu de guardar os brinquedos

Abstract

This work aims to show a literature that seeks to strengthen the construction of ethnic equality, in which Conceição Evaristo seeks to represent black people and subalterns in society, through works that value Afro-Brazilian identity and culture. The research focuses on analyzing the representation of Afro-Brazilian women in the short story (Zaíta forgot to put her toys away), published in 2014, which is part of the book Olhos D'Água, by Conceição Evaristo. The study was based on the need to rethink the position and formation of Afro-Brazilian women in society from their circle of coexistence, reflecting not only the role they play in the family nucleus, but also in the context in which they are inserted. With this in mind, we carried out a qualitative bibliographical study in which we analyzed which ideological propositions are focused on the representation of Afro-Brazilian women in society. To this end, the problem guiding our research is: What ideological propositions dialogue with the representation of Afro-Brazilian women in society? In view of this, our general objective is: to analyze which propositions dialogue with the representation of Afro-Brazilian women in society. Specific objectives: a) identify the social roles played by the characters; b) verify the representation of Afro-Brazilian women based on the socio-cultural context of the characters; and c) reflect on the influences of the family circle on the formation of Afro-Brazilian women. According to the research carried out, we realized that the female characters are strongly intertwined by the following conditions: poverty, lack of assistance, vulnerability and urban violence, which evokes the portrait and representation of many Afro-Brazilian women in the country, based on the context in which they live.
