dc.description.abstractOver time, the witch has populated the popular imagination and still resides within it, being one of the representations of an unusual reality. Whether near or far from wickedness, the witch is a character that has been modernized, changing some of her characteristics to the point of becoming closely aligned with the nuances of a hero or heroine. Clad in the symbolism of the imagination, such as the hat and broomstick, the witch has been reinvented without losing her charm and, as a result, has become the subject of the present research, which focuses on the study of witch representations in "Circe: Sorceress. Witch: between the punishment of the gods and the love of men" by Madeline Miller. The research aims to answer the following question: how is the witch represented in the work "Circe: Sorceress. Witch: between the punishment of the gods and the love of men"? In light of this problem, the objective of the study is to analyze the characteristics of the witch Circe in comparison to other witches and protagonists in the narrative. To this end, a bibliographic research approach was chosen, based on studies with the same theme found in articles, books, and other scientific works. Authors who discuss the representation of witches in narratives and tales were consulted, including Bruno Bettelhein and Andréia Osório. Among the results, it is noteworthy that the witch Circe manages to subvert the traditionally presented concepts about witches, having a greater affinity with goodness and heroism, distancing herself from her literary archetypept_BR

dc.description.resumoAo longo do tempo, a bruxa povoou o imaginário popular, e ainda vive nele, sendo uma das representações de uma realidade insólita. Perto ou longe das maldades, a bruxa é uma personagem que foi se modernizando, mudando algumas de suas características a ponto de se tornar muito próxima das nuances de um herói ou heroína. Revestida de simbologias do imaginário, como o chapéu e vassoura, a bruxa foi reinventada, sem perder o seu encanto e, por isso, tornou-se tema da presente pesquisa, a qual se volta para o estudo das representações de bruxa em “Circe: Feiticeira. Bruxa: entre o castigo dos deuses e o amor dos homens”, de Madeline Miller. A pesquisa visa responder à seguinte questão: como a bruxa se encontra representada na obra “Circe: Feiticeira. Bruxa: entre o castigo dos deuses e o amor dos homens.”? Diante do problema, o objetivo do estudo está em analisar as características da Bruxa Circe em comparação aos demais bruxos(as) e protagonistas da narrativa. Para tanto, optou-se pela pesquisa bibliográfica, fundamentada em estudos com a mesma temática, encontrados em artigos, livros e outros trabalhos científicos. Foram utilizados autores que versam sobre a representação da bruxa nas narrativas e contos, dentre esses, Bruno Bettelhein e Andréia Osório. Dentre os resultados, ressalta-se que a Bruxa Circe consegue subverter os conceitos sobre bruxas tradicionalmente apresentados tendo maior proximidade com a bondade e heroísmo, distanciando de seu arquétipo literáriopt_BR
