Abstract

Thais ressarce analyzes the production of small rental properties (kitchenettes) in the Cidade Operária neighborhood and neighboring areas, in São Luís do Maranhão. To this end, we seek to investigate the reason for the choice of residents for this form of housing and their relationship with the expansion of real estate activities in the neighborhood. Thus, it és guided by pointing out some factors that lead part. of the working class. to live in these types of properties, as well as the relationship with the area under study, in order to establish possible relationships and characterize the phenomenon of housing in the urban area of the capital, specifying a specific area in the analysis. There will be a mapping (property identification), in locu visits, photographic records and informal conversations with residents, in order to seek nuances, articulating with the bibliography on the subject under study. It is also intended to verify whether housing is an expanding business in the area, having consequences on the peripheralization of the metropolitan fabric
