Resumo: In addition to the use of predators in the biological control of R. indica, botanical products such as fixed oils have been tested in the laboratory. In this context, the objective of this study was to determine the ovicidal effect of 50% and 80% lethal concentrations (LCs) of fixed cottonseed oil on R. indica and the predatory mite Amblyseius largoensis Hirst (Acari: Phytoseiidae), as well as the sublethal effects of LC80 on the functional and numerical response and instantaneous growth rate of the predatory mite. To evaluate the effects of fixed cottonseed oil on Raoiella indica and Amblyseius largoensis, bioassays were conducted using the previously determined lethal concentrations LC₅₀ and LC₈₀. The ovicidal effect was tested by spraying the oil on R. indica and A. largoensis eggs, with egg hatching evaluated β4 and 144 hours after application, respectively. To analyze the functional and numerical response of A. largoensis, females after β4 hours of fasting were subjected to different densities of R. indica eggs and immatures, evaluating predation within β4 hours and oviposition at β4 and 48 hours. Regarding the predator's population growth rate, arenas containing four females and one male fed ad libitum with all stages of R. indica, also sprayed with CL₈₀, were evaluated for seven days. A. largoensis fed with exposed and unexposed eggs, as well as with immatures not exposed to CL₈₀, showed a type II functional response; however, when feeding on immatures exposed to CL₈₀, the functional response was altered to type III. Furthermore, exposure to oil significantly reduced predator oviposition and egg viability, when compared to the other results with oviposition at the highest density offered under the effect of oil. Furthermore, it negatively impacted its population growth rate compared to the control treatment. Fixed cottonseed oil caused sublethal effects on A. largoensis, reducing its reproduction and development. However, the predator demonstrated behavioral plasticity, shifting its functional response from type II to type III when feeding on sprayed immatures. This indicates potential use in controlling R. indica, especially in the egg stage
