O festejo de São José de Ribamar: entre o sagrado e o profano

Abstract

This monograph is the result of a research that has for objective to show the sacred existing reiation between and the profane one, inside of festejo of Is Jose de Ribamar (Me). Festejo exists officially has 112 years and lasts ten days. During this period it is observed that the events in lathe of this religious party gain characteristics different of its context. Beyond the faith, hope and devotion, other motivations take a great number of people to the city, during festejo in the September month: parties, consumption and profits. To leave of this problematic one one notices the different values that this religious manifestation possesss, being necessary an analysis of the main factors that involve festejo, considering through the historiografia of the city the necessary aspects of the following dimensions: historical facts and legends, organization of festejo, the sanctuary as center of tourist attraction, factors that had projected the event as the biggest religious expression of the State and the cultural and economic aspects of festejo.
