Linguagem poética no ensino de geografia: um estudo de caso da obra “Morte e vida Severina”, como recurso didático

Abstract

This monographic work deals with the use of poetry as a didactic resource in the teaching of Geography. Its basis for the study is the poetry “Morte e Vida Severina”, first published in 1955 by the poet João Cabral de Melo Neto. The poetry shows the trajectory of a migrant called “Severino”, like so many others. The work is a narrative in verses of the route taken by the northeasterner from Serra da Costela to the coast of Recife (PE). Following the course of the Capibaribe River, it seeks to survive the drought and precarious living conditions. It is applied research. It uses the Historicaldialectical method as a method. As a type of research according to objectives, it is Exploratory. With regard to the researcher/subject, it is Qualitative research insofar as it works with values, beliefs and non-quantifiable aspects. As for the technical procedures for data collection, it is a case study. It arrives at the State of the Art through a bibliographic survey in the categories listed in the investigation: Teacher Training, Teaching of Geography and Literature. Through this expedient it is clear that using non-conventional resources greatly enhances the construction of knowledge of geographic themes. It makes use of bibliographical materials of authors that dialogue with the literary\poetic language and the teaching of geography. Data collection was done using the Google Forms tool. It presents, as a result from the data obtained, the finding that poetry is not a resource easily used by Geography teachers because the teaching of the subject still largely follows the school reality, the same traditional context in which it was historically conceived in the educational scenario with watertight models, resources and planning and needs a pedagogical redo. It concludes that it is necessary to reframe the methodological resources used in Geography teaching. This action must start from the initial training, in the understanding of the teaching needs, in the foreground, so that this reflection affects the development of the discipline
