Fatores associados a sintomas depressivo em universitários da área da saúde

Título: Fatores associados a sintomas depressivo em universitários da área da saúde
Abstact: Depression is one of the most prevalent mental disorders today, representing a major public
health issue due to its impact on individuals’ quality of life, academic performance, and social
relationships. Among university students in the health field, factors such as heavy workloads,
curricular demands, performance pressure, and frequent contact with situations of human
suffering may contribute to the development of depressive symptoms. In this context, the
present study aimed to identify and analyze the factors associated with depressive symptoms
among health-related university students, as well as to understand how these factors influence
academic performance and social interactions. This study is characterized as mixed-method
research (quantitative and qualitative), conducted with 53 students from the Nursing, Physical Education, Pharmacy, and Physiotherapy programs at the State University of Maranhão (UEMA) and the University Center of Greater Fortaleza (UNIGRANDE), located in the
municipality of Grajaú, Maranhão, Brazil. Data were collected through, and the information
was analyzed using descriptive statistics and Content Analysis. The results showed a
predominance of female participants and identified emotional fatigue or exhaustion, lack of
concentration, discouragement, and anxiety as the main reported symptoms. It was observed
that depressive symptoms negatively affect academic performance, compromising learning,
motivation, and participation in university activities. In addition, significant impacts on
students’ social and family relationships were identified, with reports of isolation,
communication difficulties, and interpersonal conflicts. It is concluded that depressive
symptoms are significantly present among health-related university students and directly
influence their academic and social lives, reinforcing the need for institutional strategies
aimed at promoting mental health, providing psychological support, and strengthening
support networks within the university environment.

Título: Manejo e desafios enfrentados por enfermeiros em urgências e emergências cardíacas: estudo transversal
Abstact: Cardiovascular diseases are among the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in Brazil and
worldwide, requiring nursing professionals to possess scientific knowledge, specific skills, and
the ability to respond promptly in emergency situations. In this context, this study aimed to
analyze the nursing team's perception of their ability to act in cardiac emergencies, identify the
influence of training and continuing education on the qualification of care, and understand the
main difficulties faced by nurses in managing cardiac urgencies and emergencies. This is a field
study with a qualitative approach, conducted with nurses working in a municipal hospital in the
countryside of Maranhão, Brazil. Data collection was carried out through a semi-structured
questionnaire, and the data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The results showed that
participants had a positive perception of their ability to perform in cardiac emergencies,

highlighting the importance of technical knowledge, professional experience, and self-
confidence in decision-making. Training and continuing education were identified as

fundamental tools for improving professional competencies, contributing to the safety and
quality of care. However, challenges related to insufficient material resources, structural
limitations, lack of equipment, and the need for continuous training were also identified. It is
concluded that ongoing professional qualification, combined with strengthened infrastructure
and adequate resource availability, is essential for improving nursing care provided to patients
in cardiac urgency and emergency situations.

Saberes e práticas de adolescentes sobre métodos contraceptivos

Título: Saberes e práticas de adolescentes sobre métodos contraceptivos
Abstact: Adolescence is a period marked by intense physical, emotional, and social changes
and is also a stage of greater vulnerability regarding sexual and reproductive health.
In this context, knowledge and proper use of contraceptive methods are essential for
preventing unplanned pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). This study
aimed to understand adolescents’ knowledge and practices regarding contraceptive
methods. This is a mixed-methods descriptive study conducted with 183 high school
students enrolled in public schools in the municipality of Grajaú, Maranhão, Brazil.
Data were collected through a structured questionnaire containing closed- and openended
questions. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, while
qualitative data were subjected to Bardin’s content analysis. The results showed that
95.1% of the adolescents reported knowing about contraceptive methods, 90.7%
recognized their importance in preventing unplanned pregnancy, and 91.3% identified
condoms as an effective method for preventing sexually transmitted infections. Male
condoms were the best-known and most commonly used contraceptive method among
participants. Despite this, only 51.4% reported using any contraceptive method. The
main barriers identified were embarrassment, fear of judgment, and lack of information.
It is concluded that adolescents have knowledge about contraception and recognize
the importance of contraceptive methods in preventing unplanned pregnancy and
sexually transmitted infections. However, difficulties were identified in translating this
knowledge into regular preventive practices. Therefore, there is a need to strengthen
health education actions and expand spaces for dialogue among schools, families, and
health services

Título: Percepção dos enfermeiros sobre os principais desafios enfrentados no tratamento da hanseníase no município de Grajaú, Maranhão
Abstact: Leprosy is a chronic infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae,
characterized by the involvement of the skin and peripheral nerves. When not
diagnosed and treated early, it can lead to physical deformities and permanent
disabilities, negatively affecting patients' quality of life, social inclusion, and
occupational activities. This study aimed to understand nurses' perceptions of the main
challenges faced in the treatment of leprosy in the municipality of Grajaú, Maranhão,
Brazil. It is a field study with a mixed-methods (qualitative and quantitative) approach,
conducted in Primary Health Care Units (PHCUs) located in the urban area of Grajaú,
involving eight nurses working in Primary Health Care. Data were collected through
interviews using a structured covering professional training, clinical practice,
challenges encountered in patient care, and participants' perceptions of the stigma
associated with leprosy. The data were analyzed using an integrated approach,
combining qualitative analysis to interpret participants' statements and quantitative
