<title>ESCOLA “ZEZENIANA”: uma flauta a partir do Maranhão</title>
      <link>https://repositorio.uema.br/jspui/handle/123456789/5698</link>
<description>Título: ESCOLA “ZEZENIANA”: uma flauta a partir do Maranhão
Abstact: This work is about the work of the musician from Maranhão, José Alves Costa, who became a reference in the state of Maranhão as a flautist, music teacher, and defender of Maranhão culture. Without disregarding the "formal" institutional work of master Zezé Alves at the Lilah Lisboa de Araújo School of Music of the State of Maranhão, this research aims to access his artistic and educational work of an "informal" nature. The almost total lack of academic publications about musicians and music teachers from Maranhão led this author to opt, mainly, for interviews with former students and musical companions of Zezé. This methodology includes information provided by the author himself, who lived with the master for several years. The study concluded that Master Zezé made an excellent contribution to the training of musicians in Maranhão, encouraging them to play various musical genres, especially those from their own land. Furthermore, he was concerned with the integral, continuous, and humanized training of musicians, encouraging them to develop social awareness and a sense of citizenship. This approach was defined by one of the interviewees in this study, Professor João Neto (Neto da Flauta), as the "Zezé school." In addition to the above, this work is also a posthumous tribute to this great musician and teacher from Maranhão, who passed away on April 4, 2024</description>
