Monitoramento de processos erosivos lineares e perda de solos por meio de estação experimental no município de São Luís - MA

Título: Monitoramento de processos erosivos lineares e perda de solos por meio de estação experimental no município de São Luís - MA
Abstact: The aim of this research is to analyze soil loss due to water erosion, with an emphasis
on linear erosion processes, using experimental station systems in the municipality of São Luís
(MA). The research is based on the growing degradation of soil in urban areas, aggravated by
disorderly growth and the replacement of natural vegetation with impermeable surfaces, which
intensifies surface runoff and, consequently, the impacts of erosion. The research was based on
a theoretical-methodological approach that combines concepts from Geography,
Geomorphology and Soil Science, as well as highlighting the role of experimental stations as
an environmental monitoring tool. In the practical field, two experimental stations were set up
with different vegetation covers (grass and tree vegetation), in which data was collected on
rainfall, surface runoff and sediment loss. The results showed that areas with vegetation cover
had lower rates of soil loss and runoff, confirming the effectiveness of vegetation in mitigating
erosion processes. The research reinforces the importance of continuous monitoring and the
implementation of public policies aimed at soil conservation and sustainable urban planning

Abstact: This course conclusion monograph addresses geographic education with an anti-racist
character, based on the pedagogical intervention carried out in a public school in Central do
Maranhão associated with other investigative practices as well as local Afro-indigenous
knowledge related to the use of plants. I have as protection to Law 11.645/08 (which extends
to Law 10.639/03), which becomes obligatory or ensino of Afro-Brazilian and indigenous
History and Culture, and as Diretrizes Curriculares Nacionais para a Educação das Relações
Etnico-raciais e para o Ensino of History and Culture Afro-Brasileira e Africana (CNE, no.
1/2004). The general objective of the study presented here is to promote the article of two school
contents such as local knowledge regarding the use of medicinal plants in the reality lived by
two students from Central do Maranhão, to promote spatial thinking and an anti-racist stance.
Therefore, there are only specific objectives: (i) promote the valorization of the knowledge that
circulates in the family nucleus through orality and that is also the economic base that sustains
the workers; (ii) highlight the geographical relationships present from the spatial dimension to
the two farms and trade in the fairs, to the Afro-indigenous ancestral origin of the knowledge
that circulates based on preconceptions and, at the same time, to the sustainable and more
harmonious relationship with the environment based on a cosmoperception . Using the
phenomenological method in education, this qualitative research involves the methodological
procedures: bibliographic survey relevant to ethnic-racial themes (legislation, Afro-indigenous
knowledge, education and geography teaching); field research in Central do Maranhão/MA and
religious practices not povoado quilombolas as sources of phenomenological investigation of
local Afro-indigenous knowledge; Pedagogical intervention with the use of active
methodologies in a didactic sequence of four classrooms for the 8th and 9th grade at the Valdecy
Viana Prazeres municipal public school. In the intervention, a didactic sequence of 4 classrooms
was carried out with the use of varied pedagogical practices (questionnaires for prior diagnosis,
inverted classroom, research with family members at home and presentation of two research
results for students, exhibition and debates of videos and preparation in a group of mental maps
like consolidation of learning). Orality, corporeality and circularity are ancestral Afro-
indigenous values and can be reestablished with varied pedagogical practices allied to the
investigation of local knowledge that constitutes the origins and daily life of many students of
Central do Maranhão, especially the quilombolas. Thus, rescuing the primary sources of
research now and again, associating with recording, recording and photographing these
subjects-narratives provides an existential repositioning of quilombolas people, as subjects of
knowledge in the historical plot that we very well know and produce with their territories and
lived places. Finally, this research is considered as a community legacy – one that originates
long before the intervention, has been dreamed of not between two ancestors, and that extends
beyond two school walls, allied to anti-racist struggle and geographic education of a critical
nature. , creative and emancipatory is a practice articulated between scientific knowledge,
School content and specific knowledge of communities in the valorization of ethnic-racial
identities lived by students and residents of Central do Maranhão. That the teaching of
geography can convey an anti-racist geographic education inspiring emotional, political and
theoretical-practical relationships that guarantee a transformative education

Título: Ocupação e degradação em manguezal no bairro Portelinha, São Luís - MA.
Abstact: In recent decades, the mangrove has been one of the most degraded ecosystems due to
the consequences of pollution, extractivism and deforestation. The current work addresses
degradation as a consequence of occupation for housing purposes in the Portelinha
neighborhood, causing a series of irreversible damages, mainly to biodiversity. The
aforementioned neighborhood is located between São Francisco and Ponta D’areia. The
ten-year multi-temporal analysis stands out, based on the years 2014 and 2024, aiming to
analyze the dynamics of occupation and degradation of mangroves in the area. In this
way, highlighting its essential and exclusive role in the development of the biodiversity
that has it as a natural habitat. Bibliographical research, field visits and later analysis were
carried out using satellite images to understand the advance of occupation over the
mangrove in the last decade. Finally, the impacts on the physical/biological environment
and also on the anthropic environment are exposed

Gestão dos recursos hídricos na cidade de São Luís - Maranhão

Título: Gestão dos recursos hídricos na cidade de São Luís - Maranhão
Abstact: Water is an essential resource for life, and its efficient management is fundamental to the social
and environmental well-being of urban populations. This study focuses on the city of São Luís,
capital of the state of Maranhão, which faces serious structural challenges regarding water
resource management. The central objective of the research was to analyze how water
governance occurs in the city, with emphasis on the role of the Environmental Sanitation
Company of Maranhão (CAEMA), the application of the National Water Resources Policy, and
the planning and monitoring instruments used. The methodology followed a quantitative
approach, including bibliographic and cartographic surveys, technical visits—such as the one
conducted at CAEMA headquarters—and data analysis from institutions such as IBGE, SNIS,
and the Water and Sanitation Institute. The data show that the Italuís System is responsible
for approximately 60% of the city's water supply, supplemented by systems such as Sacavém,
Paciência, Cidade Operária, and over 280 deep tubular wells. The city also features several
Sewage Treatment Plants (ETEs), such as the Anil ETE, inaugurated in 2023, which directly
benefits about 50,000 residents across 12 neighborhoods. On the other hand, persistent
issues were also identified: 55.93% of the water is lost before reaching consumers, only
49.85% of the population has access to sewage collection services, and 13,980 residents lack
piped water, relying on manual alternatives. Additionally, the metering index is below the
national average, which compromises consumption control and efficiency. It is concluded that
although the city has infrastructure and policies aligned with national guidelines, operational
and social weaknesses persist, limiting full access to quality water. Institutional strengthening,
reduction of water losses, and active public participation are essential for building a more
equitable, efficient, and sustainable management of water resources, ensuring water as a
public and fundamental right
