Título: Uma análise descritiva da classificação toponímica em municípios da mesorregião norte maranhense-microrregião dos Lençóis Maranhenses
Abstact: Abstract: Toponymy is a field of study that seeks to understand the processes involved in
naming places, highlighting the relationships among language, culture, history, and
geographical space. Within this context, the present study focuses on the toponymic
classification of the municipalities located in the Northern Maranhão Mesoregion, with
emphasis on the Lençóis Maranhenses Microregion. The objective is to carry out a comparative
analysis of the municipalities' toponyms, identifying the predominant taxonomic categories and
the semantic motivations underlying their denominations. The research is grounded in the
studies of Maria Vicentina de Paula do Amaral Dick, particularly her taxonomic proposal for
the classification of Brazilian toponyms, as well as in the contributions of scholars who
approach Toponymy as an interdisciplinary field concerned with the relationships among
language, memory, identity, and territory. Methodologically, this is a qualitative, descriptive,
comparative, and documentary study based on bibliographic research and on the analysis of the official names of the municipalities belonging to the Lençóis Maranhenses Microregion. The
toponyms were classified according to Dick's taxonomic categories, allowing the identification
of the predominant motivations for their formation. The results indicate that the naming of these
municipalities is strongly influenced by natural elements, especially hydrographic, botanical,
zoological, and geomorphological features, as well as by historical and cultural factors. It is
concluded that the analyzed toponyms preserve aspects of collective memory and regional
identity, constituting important linguistic and cultural records that reveal the close relationship
between communities and the geographical space they inhabit.

Abstact: This research aims to investigate how the short story genre contributes to the development of
reading proficiency among 7th-grade students at the Professor Galeno Edgar Brandes Integrated
Unit in Barra do Corda, Maranhão, Brazil, analyzing its influence on stimulating reading,
comprehension, and textual interpretation. The research was conducted using a qualitative
approach, configured as a case study, developed through pedagogical intervention, observation of
classroom activities, and analysis of students' written productions. The analysis encompasses
theoretical discussions on reading, reader development, pedagogical practices, and the role of the
short story genre in the school context. The study analyzes how the use of short stories, associated
with reading circles, favors student participation, especially in the face of difficulties such as
disinterest, shyness, and lack of reading habits. The results demonstrate significant advances in
student engagement, recognition of narrative elements, and written production, in addition to
pointing to the importance of pedagogical strategies that promote interaction and dialogue in the
classroom. Thus, the relevance of using the short story genre as an effective tool in teaching
Portuguese stands out, contributing to the formation of critical and participatory readers

Abstact: This study analyzes the relationship between strategic management and socioeconomic
development based on the role of cooperatives in the state of Maranhão. The methodology
adopted was a qualitative approach, supported by a bibliographic and documentary review. The study articulates the historical and legal foundations of cooperativism, concepts of
strategic management (planning, SWOT analysis, organizational culture, and participatory
governance), and recent sectoral data. The results indicate that the consistent adoption of
strategic practices enhances the organizational efficiency of cooperatives and transforms
economic performance into territorial impacts, such as job and income generation, productive
inclusion, supply chain organization, and credit democratization, especially in contexts of
structural constraints. The evidence points to a continuous and consolidated expansion of
cooperativism in Maranhão, marked by the growing participation of individuals and the
strengthening of the community base. It is concluded that strategic management has become
a central condition for the sustainability of cooperatives and for the consolidation of
cooperativism as a structural driver of socioeconomic development in the state of Maranhão.

Título: O papel da agricultura familiar no desenvolvimento sustentável do setor agropecuário de Barra do Corda-MA
Abstact: Family farming represents one of the pillars of sustainable rural development in
Brazil, significantly contributing to the production of basic foods, job creation, and
biodiversity preservation. In the context of the Northeast region and specifically the
municipality of Barra do Corda-MA, this form of production plays an essential role in
the local economy and the maintenance of cultural traditions, despite structural
challenges such as limited access to credit, technical assistance, and infrastructure.
This study aimed to analyze the role of family farming in the sustainable development
of the agricultural sector in Barra do Corda-MA, focusing on public policies and
municipal management actions. A qualitative and descriptive methodology was
employed, combining bibliographic review of scientific databases and documentary
research through a questionnaire applied to the Municipal Secretariat of Agriculture
and Fisheries (SAPES). Content analysis allowed the identification of thematic
categories such as public policies, sustainability, social inclusion, and structural
challenges. The results indicate the presence of 381 families registered in the
National Family Farming Registry (CAF), with production mainly aimed at
subsistence, although important advances have been made, such as the Family
Farming Fair and specific programs for training, credit access, and female
empowerment. It is concluded that family farming in Barra do Corda-MA is
fundamental for sustainable rural development, with public policies that, while
promising, still require greater scope and continuity. Investments in infrastructure,
training, digital inclusion, and youth appreciation are essential to overcome the
identified challenges. This research contributes to the academic and social debate,
highlighting the importance of integrated and inclusive policies that promote the
economic, social, and environmental sustainability of family farming in the
municipality.
