Abstact: In this work, we aim to explore the relationship between History and Cinema with the purpose
of analyzing the struggle of the quilombola communities of Alcântara, in the state of Maranhão.
The object of study is the documentary Terras de Quilombo (2005), directed by the Maranhãoborn
filmmaker Murilo Santos. The production presents a narrative that combines an
anthropological perspective with the community’s viewpoint through personal accounts. In this
way, we seek to understand how elements of visual culture and the descriptions used in the
film’s editing represent the demands of the quilombola communities, while also focusing on
analyzing the impact of the creation of the Alcântara Launch Center. Furthermore, we seek to
engage with the possibility of using this documentary in high school History education. This
educational potential is reinforced by Law No. 13.006/2014, which mandates the screening of
at least two hours of national films per month, and also by Law No. 10.639/2003, which requires
the teaching of Afro-Brazilian History and Culture, specifically aligned with skill

Título: Cantando a História do Brasil: uma análise da historiografia colonial brasileira através dos sambas-enredo das escolas de samba do Rio de Janeiro e São Luís
Abstact: This undergraduate research aims to analyze how the samba-enredos performed by samba
schools in Rio de Janeiro and São Luís portray the history of Colonial Brazil. Based on
the understanding that samba-enredo, as a form of popular cultural expression, goes
beyond entertainment, the study considers it a tool for education, collective memory, and
social critique. The research provides historical context for the emergence of Carnival
and samba schools, highlighting their African, Indigenous, and European roots. Drawing
on Cultural History, the study employs a qualitative approach, using bibliographic and
documentary research along with analysis of samba-enredo lyrics that address colonial
themes. The time frame begins in the 1930s, when samba-enredo was established as a
Carnival genre. The analysis reveals that samba schools use their parades to revisit
historical events and amplify voices silenced by official historiography, such as
Indigenous peoples, enslaved Africans, and resistance leaders like Zumbi dos Palmares
and Ajuricaba. By transforming the parade avenue into a space of memory and historical
debate, samba-enredos emerge as legitimate historical sources, capable of engaging the
public in critical reflections on the past. This research concludes that samba-enredo is not
only a cultural artifact but also a historical document that contributes to the development
of a plural, popular, and decentralized historiography.

Abstact: The Maranhão historiography dedicated to the first decades of the nineteenth century characterized the period, for a long time, as intellectual obscurantism, history / supporting the coming years, marked by the rise of Maranhão Group. Part of that approach took as a reference the statement Antonio Bernardino Pereira do Lago (1822), in its Statistics historical and geographical of Maranhao province, that at the time there was no book stores in São Luís. In the opposite direction, prioritize here printed circulation in a period of growth of the city especially after the opening of ports to friendly nations in 1808 and the Treaties of Friendship, signed by the Government of Prince Regent D. João with England. I analyze several records, especially the censors agencies responsible for circulating control books in Portuguese Overseas Empire, such as the Royal Censorship Board and the Bureau of the Palace of Desembargo: Court, Extremadura and Islands present in the National Archives of Torre do Tombo, in addition to printed selling ads in the first Maranhão journals, which offer us information about points of sale, titles, booksellers, target audience, pricing etc.

For certain construction, the analyses considers the main laws that guide the councilor‟s actions, a letter from October 20th of 1823, and the constitution of 1827 that are fundamental to understand the process of instruction during the first years of the empire. The presidential council had the primordial function to help the president of province to deal with administrative questions. One of the questions of huge importance in the council meeting was the provincial education, the subject of this study, which also comprehends the attempts of creation of schools and innovation of the teaching model. The period of time used is from 1825 to 1834, time in which the council functioned.
