Título: O papel do enfermeiro nas ações de proteção, prevenção e promoção da saúde: um plano de intervenção em Leishmaniose no Povoado Esperantina, Santa Luzia, Maranhão
Abstact: Leishmaniasis is an infectious disease endemic to the Americas and is one of the main
endemic diseases in the state of Maranhão, prevalent in rural areas of the country, which most
lack investments in education and health. It is characterized by being of parasitic origin,
whose etiological agent is the protozoan Leishmania, which are transmitted by vector insects
known as sandflies, tatuquira, cangalhinha or birigui. It has two clinical forms, tegumentary or
cutaneous leishmaniasis (ATL) and visceral or kala-azar (VL). The choice of the theme is
justified by the relevance of leishmaniasis, as it is considered one of the most dangerous
tropical diseases, in addition to being neglected, representing a public health challenge. The
objective of the present study is to carry out health education actions in the villages of Parada
do Gavião and Gavião Velho, micro-areas of the Esperantina village, in Santa Luzia-MA,
aiming to educate the population about Leishmaniasis. The research is characterized by a
quantitative-qualitative approach, with exploratory and descriptive action research, in the field
research modality. The reading bases for the preparation of the course completion work
(TCC) were analyzed from the study of scientific articles obtained from the PUBMED,
Scientific Electronic, Library Online (SciELO) databases, as well as textbooks in the area.
The interventions included lectures, home visits, distribution of pamphlets and delivery of
repellents in the communities. The results obtained indicated the effectiveness of educational
strategies in reducing misinformation about zoonosis and in the adoption of preventive
practices, minimizing contact with the vector. It is concluded that the intervention plan
implemented in the two endemic communities proved to be effective in increasing the
population's awareness of leishmaniasis and reinforced the importance of the nurse as a health
educator.

Título: Análise da distribuição de casos de tuberculose em um município do Oeste Maranhense
Abstact: Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the leading infectious diseases worldwide, with significant
impacts on public health and socioeconomic conditions, especially among vulnerable
populations. This study analyzes the incidence of TB in Santa Inês - MA, during the
period from 2019 to 2023, aiming to characterize the epidemiological scenario and
propose control strategies. Data from institutional sources, such as the Ministry of
Health and the World Health Organization (WHO), indicate that TB is a priority
disease, highlighting Brazil as one of the countries with the highest global burden.
Despite accessible diagnosis and free treatment through the Unified Health System
(SUS), challenges such as late diagnosis, treatment abandonment, and social
inequalities persist, exacerbating disease indicators. In Maranhão (States of Brazil),
the increase in TB cases in recent years is linked to factors such as poverty,
malnutrition, social stigma, and gaps in healthcare infrastructure. In Santa Inês, a
municipality experiencing population growth and marked inequalities, a significant
variation in reported TB cases was observed, especially during the COVID-19
pandemic. The study’s methodology consisted of a qualitative and quantitative
bibliographic analysis, examining epidemiological and socioeconomic data, as well
as preventive strategies, such as Permanent Health Education and awareness
campaigns. The results indicate that strengthening epidemiological surveillance,
training healthcare professionals, and investing in infrastructure are essential to
reduce TB incidence. The analysis emphasizes the need for integrated public policies
that address the social determinants of health and promote equity in access to
services. It is concluded that, although progress has been made, challenges remain
significant, requiring a multisectoral approach to achieve the goal of TB eradication
by 2035, as recommended by the WHO.

Título: Risco de complicações para a mãe com diagnóstico de Diabetes Mellitus
Abstact: Diabetes Mellitus represents a chronic disease with significant impacts on public health
and with high morbidity, a high degree of disability, premature mortality, and costly
public costs resulting from its treatment and complications. According to the Brazilian
Diabetes Society, the estimate of people with diabetes in the Brazilian population is 20
million people. Gestational Diabetes Mellitus is a highly prevalent problem in the world,
occurring in pregnant women who are unable to increase insulin production to
neutralize insulin resistance produced by hormones during pregnancy. Adequate
follow-up and effective management of gestational diabetes mellitus are essential to
minimize the associated risks and promote a positive outcome. The aim of this study
is to analyze the impact of gestational diabetes mellitus on maternal health. This is a
narrative review of the literature, which is considered appropriate for the description
and discussion of the development or the "State of the Art" of a given subject. The
selection of the material occurred through the search of scientific studies in electronic
databases of public access, namely: Latin American and Caribbean Literature
(LILACS); Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo); Virtual Health Library/Nursing
Database (VHL/BDENF). A total of 107 publications were identified, of which only 14
studies were chosen according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The study
presented extensive studies that address the epidemiological issues of the disease,
describing the high prevalence among pregnant women, the number of complications
related to recurrent urinary infections, periodontal problems, lower gestational age at
the time of delivery and a higher number of cesarean sections. The present study was
essential to expand knowledge about GDM during pregnancy with updated scientific
literature and can contribute to improving knowledge about the disease, to qualify the
professional practice of Nursing.

Abstact: This study addresses penile cancer, a rare disease that is prevalent in economically
disadvantaged regions. It focuses on public health policies and strategies for men's health care
in Brazil. Its overall objective is to analyze, through an integrative review, the main advances
related to penile cancer in the last five years. To this end, the integrative review method was
used, using the SciELO and BVS databases for this discussion. The National Policy for
Comprehensive Men's Health Care (PNAISH) was discussed, highlighting advances and
challenges in the implementation of actions aimed at prevention and male care. The
epidemiology of penile cancer was also explored, with global, national, and specific data from
the Northeast and Maranhão, highlighting regional disparities and barriers in access to
diagnosis and treatment. The study emphasizes the role of primary health care, which is
fundamental in promoting preventive measures, as well as coordination with the health care
network, including tertiary levels for more complex cases. The analysis highlights the need
for integrated strategies that involve health education, expanding healthcare coverage and
combating inequalities in access to the healthcare system. It is concluded that strengthening
men's health policies and improving the quality of services are essential to improving
indicators and reducing the incidence and morbidity of penile cancer in Brazil.
