Título: Periódicos Científicos: processamento técnico organizacional na biblioteca da UEMA Autor(es): Lopes, Betânia Lúcia Fontinele Abstact: The journals are of fundamental importance in scientific communication, however the process of preservation, dissemination and electronic search of its contents has been a challenge to be overcome within the national libraries. In the context of public organizations, the State University of Maranhão (UEMA) is attentive to this reality and its objective is to improve the search of the contents of scientific articles by the academic community, in this way an evaluation was made in the fascicles of the existing collections in the library and the technical processing of newspaper articles began. Aware of the importance of preserving and making the scientific contents of materials available, the present study is characterized as qualitative research, using methods of bibliographic research and analysis of the periodicals present in the platform of the library management system, having a metalinguistic character. Finally, the improvement in the technical treatment with the assumption of indexing newspaper articles in the online system was analyzed
