Os conceitos de amor e neurose de transferência em O Ateneu

Abstract

This study investigates the links between psychoanalysis and literature, more specifically the conceptualization of love and transference neurosis present in literary discourse, having as object of study the work O Ateneu, by Raul Pompéia. Initially, the proposal of the work is to point out the reconstructions of the main social, cultural and political aspects of the 19th century, which mark the narrative in its historical and also literary context. Mainly, through the subjective memories of the character throughout the plot. We will demonstrate the central objective which is to understand the psychological implications of the novel, highlighting in the research the concepts of love and neurosis, evidenced in the relationships between Ema and Sérgio. At this point, the transference neurosis is presented, identified at a given moment as a maternal love that is linked to Ema, but that presents an aspect of desire. We will study the problem of the love phenomenon that, according to the structuring of the Freudian field, allows a polysemy of the concept in different versions and cultural discourses. Based on the studies of Freud and Lacan that point out the value of love and its form of concept, as it is marked as different from passion or falling in love. Finally, it dialogues with the concepts of love and transference neurosis from the perspective of psychoanalysis present in the literary narrative of the Athenaeum.
