O silenciamento e a submissão da mulher moçambicana na obra Ventos do apocalipse de Paulina Chiziane

Abstract

The present study aimed to analyze the literary work entitled Ventos do Apocalipse (1993), by Paulina Chiziane, and to discuss the conditions of subalternity and silencing of women in the African context. The specific objectives addressed were: to understand the Mozambican literary context; present some outstanding female authors within African literature; Identify Paulina Chiziane's literary contributions; to analyze the work Ventos do Apocalipse from the perspective of the condition of Mozambican women within the patriarchal system. The method used was bibliographic, being descriptive with a qualitative approach. The sources used were the work Ventos do Apocalipse by Paulina Chiziane, and as theoretical contributions Oliveira (2002), Silva, M. (2018), Bezerra; Souza (2014), Silva (2018). Thus, through this monographic study on the literary work Ventos do Apocalipse, it was possible to observe that the author draws the female figure as submerged in traditions and customs; women subjected to a condition of inferiority in relation to men, and who, over time, begin to question themselves about this reality imposed on them, questioning the social structures that oppress them. Therefore, the work of Paulina Chiziane is extremely relevant as it allows Mozambican women to have a voice to tell their stories and openly question the system in which they find themselves, seeking new places in society and the freedom of women
