A relação entre filosofia e literatura em Sartre: a apreensão da contingência no romance "A náusea"

Abstract

This work aims to understand the relationship established by Jean Paul Sartre between philosophy and literature, through his first philosophical novel A Náusea (1986). For the French philosopher, both the philosophical and literary fields are autonomous and do not meet in a simple way, but we must assume the relationship. Clarifying the encounter between the two fields, we aim, in this way, to elucidate some of the Sartrean concepts that permeate this junction. We will diagnose the problems found in Sartre's first philosophical novel, demonstrating the experience of estrangement experienced by the protagonist of the plot, Antoine Roquentin, when he reflects on his experiences. The experience of contingency is translated in Sartre's philosophy as absurd, where things only exist contingently. In view of this, the development of the work will occur as follows: in the first chapter, we will see the historicity of philosophical and literary writing so that we can speak of the encounter established between them, bringing the reconstruction of the concept of metaphysics resignified by Sartre. Later, in the second chapter, we will deal with the key to existence through Roquentin's perceptions, approaching, then, the problem that carries the concept of absurdity.
