Ligações químicas nos livros didáticos de química do PNLD 2021-2025: uma abordagem histórico-conceitual

Título: Ligações químicas nos livros didáticos de química do PNLD 2021-2025: uma abordagem histórico-conceitual
Abstact: Teaching chemical bonds often relies on decontextualized approaches, which can make
reflective learning difficult. In this scenario, textbooks emerge as a central pedagogical resource
and, therefore, the National Textbook Program (PNLD), aligned with the National Common
Curricular Base (BNCC), promoted a structural change, replacing the old Chemistry Textbooks
(LDQ) with integrated works of Natural Sciences and their Technologies (CNT) with an
interdisciplinary proposal. In view of this transformation, this work aimed to carry out an
analysis from the historical-conceptual perspective of chemical bonds in the seven approved
CNT collections. To this end, the research adopted a qualitative and interpretative methodology,
in which the pertinent chapters are analyzed and compared with primary and secondary
references from the History of Chemistry, in order to evaluate the presentation of the historical
and conceptual aspects of the subject. The results indicate that the conceptual approach to
chemical bonds is generally descriptive and not very in-depth, with the definition of stability
being highlighted only in the CNT1 collection. Electronegativity appears with greater emphasis
in CNT3 and CNT5, but without any dialogue with their theoretical bases. Regarding the order
of presentation, only three collections follow Pauling's theoretical structure. The historical
dimension is treated in a punctual and superficial manner, with little contextualization of the
characters and theories. It is concluded that the books analyzed lack integration between the
conceptual and historical aspects, which compromises the critical and contextualized
understanding of Chemistry

Práticas experimentais na produção de bioplásticos no ensino de química: reflexões sobre sustentabilidade e meio ambiente

Título: Práticas experimentais na produção de bioplásticos no ensino de química: reflexões sobre sustentabilidade e meio ambiente
Abstact: This final course work (TCC) proposed a different approach to teaching Chemistry through the
experimental production of bioplastics, focusing on environmental education and sustainability.
Plastics (synthetic polymers) are widely used in daily life but often pose environmental
problems due to excessive use and improper disposal. Thus, this research aimed to propose the
production of bioplastics through investigative experimental activities. The study is qualitative
and exploratory in nature and was developed with high school seniors (3rd year) at Centro
Educa Mais Maria José Aragão in São Luís, Maranhão, Brazil. It integrated theoretical and
practical activities on natural and synthetic polymers. Through lectures and hands-on
experiments, students produced bioplastics using potato and industrialized corn starch, applying
scientific concepts in a contextualized manner. Biodegradation tests were also conducted in
different environments (water, sand, and soil), demonstrating the ecological viability of the
bioplastics. The results highlighted the pedagogical potential of the approach, fostering student
engagement, environmental awareness, and the development of sustainable practices in the
school context. The initiative reaffirms the role of schools in shaping critical citizens committed
to environmental preservation

Abstact: The improper disposal of expired chemical reagents poses risks to the environment and
public health, especially in academic settings where there is a high turnover of chemical
substances. This article aims to assess the storage and disposal procedures of expired
reagents in the Chemistry Department laboratory at the State University of Maranhão
(UEMA), verifying their compliance with current Brazilian environmental legislation.
The research employed a qualitative approach and document analysis. The results
revealed the absence of a Chemical Waste Management Plan (PGRQ), inadequate storage
practices, and disposal without contracts with licensed companies. The analysis, based on
Law No. 12.305/2010 and technical standards such as ABNT NBR 14725, showed
noncompliance in several aspects. It is concluded that the implementation of corrective
measures is urgent, including staff training, standardization of procedures, and
partnerships with specialized companies
