The study aims to provide a detailed look at the factors that influenced the development and decline of this important economic institution. From the following objectives; starting with the general: “Analyze what led to the decline in the functionality of Engenho Central São Pedro in Pindaré-Mirim/MA (1895 – 1910)”; and the specific ones: “Describe which factors contributed to the decline of the activities carried out at Engenho Central São Pedro; Understand the social, political, and economic relations involved in this enterprise that was supported by slavery; and Show how the work activities of this process were carried out”. To this end, the research is dedicated to verifying relevant historiographical references, seeking to understand the factors that influenced the development and fall of the agrarian-export system in the area. The study focuses on the favorable conditions that contributed to the initial prosperity of the sugar economy, highlighting natural resources such as the Pindaré River, which borders the mill site, and the availability of labor necessary to sustain the system. These elements were crucial for the growth of sugar production and for understanding the economic and social dynamics that shaped the region; therefore, it offers a comprehensive study of the evolution of Engenho, highlighting not only its growth and economic impact, but also the challenges and factors that led to its decline. The newspapers selected were: Impartial, O Commercio de Caxias and Nossa Terra, periodicals that circulated in the city between 1920 and 1962. This research was possible through the use of periodicals from the newspaper library digital library of the National Library, also the use of bibliographic records of authors of Caxias, as Eziquio Barros Neto (2020) and images by photographer Brunno G. Couto. From of these contributions and following quantitative and qualitative research, the research seeks highlight the most prominent cinemas, such as Cine Odeon, Cine Royal, Cine Rex and Cine São Luís, all of those who came from the capitals to the interior city, bringing the What was new was film screenings. The work also parallels the emergence of Cinema in Brazil and the world, and its importance for the field of history as a form of research source, in addition, the relevance of the sources is exposed hemerographics for the field of history. With this, the objective is to highlight the main characteristics of these rooms, how society inserted these places into their daily lives and their outcome, that is, the aim -despite the little information- to bring about a rescue of the local memory about the cinemas of Caxias-MA. In addition to the knowledge built throughout academic training, theoretical and methodological support was used, with due selection of authors who deal with the approach explained here. Among the references, the following stand out: Bernardet (2000), Le Goff (1994), among other authors. 2024-09-05T00:00:00Z https://repositorio.uema.br/jspui/handle/123456789/3648 Título: A metamorfose da vila a município: a emancipação política de Senador Alexandre Costa/MA (1980-1997) Abstact: This research analyzes the trajectory of Vila Espírito Santo to the political emancipation of Senador Alexandre Costa – MA, between the years 1980 – 1997, seeking to understand the history of this space through the social and political memories that contributed to its transformation, previously belonging to to the City of Governador Eugênio Barros - MA, from where it was separated on November 10, 1994 by State Law No. 6,153. In this way, the objectives are to know the reasons for the political emancipation of the Municipality, identify the transformations and influences of social and political relations before and during the elevation of the territory, in addition to pointing out the main public figures who participated in the formation of the Village and the Municipality. The methodological actions used were bibliographic reviews and documentary consultations, in addition to the use of oral history with interviews with six people who were eyewitnesses to this process of emancipation, being fundamental for maintaining the memory and formation of the institutionalization of this municipality. As a result, it is observed that despite having started from a State action in conjunction with eighty other municipalities in the nineties, it has its own particularities analyzed in the progress of the work, comprising the metamorphosis of a Village that blossomed into a municipality, in the midst of local political articulations of its agents, with, in addition to the territorial change, the change of name in this process. 2024-09-10T00:00:00Z
